Principle Statement
Reality comes before narrative.
In DGCP™, observable events must be established before any explanation, interpretation, or narrative layer is introduced.
System Context
In many information systems, narratives emerge rapidly. Interpretations, opinions, and explanations often appear before the underlying reality is fully recorded.
This creates structural instability. When narrative precedes reality, systems become vulnerable to distortion, bias, and loss of traceability.
DGCP™ enforces the reverse sequence: observable reality must be recorded first, supported by verifiable evidence, before any narrative layer is introduced.
Observed Pattern
When reality is recorded clearly:
- Events remain traceable
- Interpretations can be evaluated against evidence
- System integrity is preserved over time
When narrative dominates:
- Events become ambiguous
- Bias accumulates
- Verification becomes limited or unavailable
Structural Implication
This principle enforces a strict system layering model:
- Layer 0: Reality (observed events, raw data)
- Layer 1: Record (structured documentation, timestamps, evidence)
- Layer 2: Interpretation (analysis, explanation)
- Layer 3: Narrative (communication layer)
Within DGCP™, Layer 0 and Layer 1 must exist before Layer 2 and Layer 3 are introduced.
